from holding hands on way to school
from sharing notes in college
from supporting each other
during their break-ups
from being the best man in each other’s weddings
and seeing each other through
the tough phase of divorces.
from being friends
to where they were now,
holding hands, being in love,
being the bride and the groom,
having kids and grandkids
cherishing the family life…
it was a long journey
they never thought they’d take -
but glad that they did.
they were friends
before they were a couple
their relationship had survived
every possible hardship.
they told anyone who would listen,
about the day they met for the first time -
it was friendship at first sight,
they both said
and laughed looking at each other -
